How to Use Temporary Photo Chat on Moments: Privacy and Control
Looking for a secure way to share your photos without exposing them? Discover how to use temporary photo chat on Moments.
When we talk about temporary photo chat, most people think of apps where images disappear after being viewed. But this is where Moments takes a step forward: not only do you want to send a fleeting photo, but you also want to ensure that it's completely under your control.
Over time, I've had my doubts about social apps. I always thought they were the same and often felt frustrated with the little control I had over what I shared. But with Moments, I've found something different: a social network where every moment has its own audience.
Decisions Before Sending a Temporary Photo Chat
- Selecting Audience: Before sending any photo, carefully consider who should receive it. You can choose between 'Everyone', 'Mutuals', 'Best Friends', or create custom lists.
- Setting Restrictions: Want that image to be viewed only once? Make sure to select the view-once option.
- Encryption: Moments operates under an advanced encryption system (AES-GCM) to ensure your messages arrive securely.
Uploading the Image During Your Conversation
Let's take a practical example: imagine being at a party with friends. You've captured that perfect moment, but you'd prefer not to share it with all your contacts; you just want to send it to your closest group. Open the chat in Moments, select the image from your gallery, and choose 'view-once'. This way, you not only share that awesome snapshot but do so without worries.
Using Additional Features While Sending
- Creative Attachments: Besides your regular images, you can add GIFs or stickers using GIPHY directly from the app.
- Voice Notes: If you'd rather explain the photo or share something funny about it without typing too much, use voice notes with visible waveforms.
- Immediate Changes: If you decide to change the audience after the initial send, you can easily do so through message settings within the chat.
Post-Sending Management: What to Do Next?
A few days later, you might regret if someone saved that image before the set time or took a screenshot without your consent. This is where Blackout, our feature designed to help you lose visibility completely during certain periods (up to half an hour), plays a crucial role whether using Normal Capture/Recording within Chat or simply making any activity related to you invisible.
Secure Closure: Regaining Access via PIN
Any interaction will be backed by our robust PBKDF2 system along with SHA256; this means maximum security against unauthorized access even if you forget your PIN after several failed attempts (5 attempts before locking!). That's why I feel confident using it as a regular tool.
If you're someone who prefers keeping private conversations integrated along with visual memories among close circles; then this app promises exactly that—and much more!
